Part 6: The Unraveling

"She was a toy," Julian continued, his voice dropping to a low, venomous register. "Vivian was a fool to keep her as a maid. I would have made her something much more... permanent. You think you’ve won because you rescued her? You’ve only brought your biggest weakness back under your roof."

Alejandro stood up. The movement was slow, deliberate, and predatory. He walked toward Julian, his shadow swallowing the younger man. "You made one mistake, Julian. You thought I would play by the rules of business. You forgot that for seven years, I was a man living in hell. And now, I’m the one holding the keys."

Suddenly, the conservatory doors swung open. Elena walked in. She was not the frail, trembling maid anymore. She was dressed in a sharp, tailored black suit, her hair pulled back into a severe bun. She held a tablet in her hand, her expression unreadable.

She walked straight to Julian and stopped inches from him. She didn't flinch. She didn't look down. She looked him directly in the eyes.

"The serpent and the ruby," she said, her voice steady and echoing with authority. "It’s a tacky choice for a man who thinks he’s king."

Julian blinked, his composure fracturing for the first time. "Elena? You’re... supposed to be fragile."

"I was," she said, tapping the tablet. "But Alejandro spent the last few months showing me exactly what you did to us. Every cent you embezzled, every threat you made, every second of my life you stole. It’s all here, Julian. The police are already in the driveway."
