Part 8: The Aftermath of Silence

As the sirens faded into the distance, the Valmont estate returned to an eerie, unnatural silence. The storm that had haunted their lives for seven years had finally cleared, leaving behind a stillness that felt almost heavy.

Alejandro walked to the window, watching the tail lights of the police convoy disappear down the driveway. He felt a hand slip into his. Elena stood beside him, her gaze fixed on the same horizon.

"Is it really over?" she asked. Her voice was soft, but it lacked the tremor that had plagued her for months.

"The threat is gone," Alejandro replied, turning to pull her into his arms. "But we have a lot of work to do. Not for the company. For us."

He looked at her, really looked at her. The woman in his arms was a survivor, a person forged in the furnace of unimaginable trauma. She was stronger than she had ever been, and he was more devoted to her than he had ever been capable of expressing.

Alejandro didn't hesitate. "Then we leave. Tomorrow."
