Four more years passed like water flowing over stone. Victoria Vale was now sixteen, a stunning young woman who had officially been named the Deputy Chairwoman of Aureum Dominion Holdings. She was a legend in the financial press—dubbed the "Maiden of Steel" for her ruthless efficiency in handling international trade disputes.
On a bright spring morning, Elena and Victoria stood on the observation deck of the newly completed Vale Aerospace Terminal, watching a fleet of hydrogen-powered cargo transports take off into the upper atmosphere.
Elena looked at her daughter. Victoria was taller now, her sharp profile silhouetted against the morning sun, her expression a perfect mirror of Elena's own unshakeable calm.
"Are you happy with the launch vectors, Victoria?" Elena asked, adjusting her coat against the high wind.
"The logistics are perfect, Mother," Victoria replied, not turning her eyes from the sky. "But I was reviewing the history files this morning. The old corporate archives from before I was born."
Elena paused, her gaze shifting to her daughter. "And what did you find?"
"I found the records of the Whitmore Group liquidation," Victoria said, her voice entirely devoid of emotion. "I watched the dinner recording from the mansion. The one where that woman poured the water over your head while I was inside you."
The wind whipped between them, cold and sharp. Elena waited, watching her daughter's face for any sign of anger or inherited trauma.
Victoria turned her head, her bright, intelligent eyes locking onto Elena’s. "I wanted to thank you, Mother."

"For not shielding me from the truth of what they were," Victoria said, a small, genuine smile appearing on her face. "Most parents try to hide their scars from their children. You showed me how to turn a scar into a sword. They thought they were throwing dirty water on a victim. They didn't realize they were quenching the steel of the person who would inherit the world."
