Part 33: The Sovereign Choice

Two years later, the global elite began whispering about the inevitable: Victoria’s marriage. As the most powerful young woman on earth, every royal house, tech billionaire, and political dynasty sought an alliance with the house of Vale.
During a private gala at the penthouse, Mara presented Elena and Victoria with a curated list of international suitors, compiled by the company's strategic PR division.
"The British aristocracy, the tech heirs of Silicon Valley, the shipping magnates of Asia," Mara read aloud. "An alliance with any of these would solidify our geopolitical influence for the next fifty years."
Victoria didn't even glance at the list. She walked over to the glass window, looking out at the glittering lights of the city she commanded.
"Tell them no," Victoria said simply.
Elena smiled, watching her daughter from her armchair. "No to all of them, Victoria?"

"An alliance implies that we need someone else to balance the scale, Mother," Victoria replied, turning around, her posture regal and unyielding. "The Whitmores taught us what happens when people marry for status or hidden agendas. A Vale does not share her crown to appease a boardroom. The empire belongs to us, and it will remain sovereign."
Elena stood up, walking over to press her hand affectionately against her daughter’s cheek. "You have learned the ultimate lesson, my love. True power never requires permission to exist alone."
