Part 35: The Final Whitmore

With the deaths of Grant and Diane, only one person remained who carried the cursed blood of the Whitmore family: Vanessa. She was now an elderly woman, living in absolute obscurity in a tiny rental house by the northern coast. Her hands were permanently crippled by arthritis from decades of manual labor, her beauty long since stolen by time and stress.

One cold evening, she sat by her small electric heater, watching a television broadcast of the global economic forum.

On the screen, Elena and Victoria Vale were being interviewed together. Elena looked elegant, aging with a magnificent, timeless grace, while Victoria commanded the stage with absolute authority. They were discussing a new project to provide free clean energy to developing nations.

Vanessa stared at the screen, her lips trembling. She remembered the nights she had spent sneering at Elena, calling her a "poor pregnant burden" and mocking her cheap clothes.

She looked around her miserable, cold room. She had no savings, no family, no legacy, and no future. The very woman they had tried to break had become the light of the world, while her own family had been ground into literal dust.

"We were so small," Vanessa whispered to the empty room, a bitter, hollow tear sliding down her wrinkled cheek. "We thought we were gods, and we were just bugs playing in her shadow." She turned off the television, wrapping herself in a cheap blanket, entirely forgotten by history.
