Part 45: The Training of the Heir

By the time Elena Junior turned eighteen, her mother decided it was time for her to face a real-world crisis without corporate backing. She was sent to a remote region in East Africa where an Aureum-funded clean-water infrastructure project was facing severe delays due to a local corporate cartel attempting to extort the foundation for transit fees.

She arrived with only Andre’s grandson, Leo, as her personal security detail. No armored Maybach, no media teams, no corporate lawyers.

In a dusty, sweltering boardroom in a provincial capital, the head of the local cartel, a heavy-set man named Marcus Vance (no relation to Arthur Vance), slammed a thick hand on the table. "Listen to me, little girl. I don't care what your name is in New York or Paris. Out here, the pipes don't move unless my trucks carry them, and my trucks don't turn their keys for less than double the agreed rate. Go call your mother."

Elena Junior sat in her simple linen shirt, her skin slightly sun-browned, her expression completely calm. She didn't reach for her phone.

"I won't be calling my mother, Mr. Vance," she said softly, her voice carrying an eerie, familiar stillness. "Because my mother doesn't handle regional logistics. I do."

She slid a simple paper document across the table.

"What is this?" Marcus sneered.

"That is a certified copy of the lease agreements for the fuel depots your trucks use," Elena Junior explained, her dark eyes locking onto his with absolute precision. "Aureum’s logistics subsidiary purchased those depots forty-eight hours ago through a local cooperative. If your trucks do not begin moving our pipes at the original contract rate within one hour, your fuel accounts will be permanently locked. You won't just fail to extort us, Mr. Vance—you will lose the ability to move your own fleet by lunchtime."

Marcus stared at the teenager, his sweat turning cold. He realized, with a sinking feeling in his chest, that the grandson of Elena Vale possessed the exact same genetic capacity for silent, devastating execution.
